Hello everybody! Can it be nearly 20 years? It certainly doesn't seem like it. I've been fortunate enough to see a few of my fellow classmates since High School. I keep in regular contact with my best friend Mark McFall, and was fortunate enough to get to see him and his family last fall (2003) in Morgantown. He was nice enough to take me to a WVU game in Morgantown.
I must pass along the following story of my visit (think punk'd): I had to set up a new hotel project in Silver Spring, Maryland and I was going to be there for a few weeks. Silver Spring is about 120 miles from Morgantown, plenty close enough for a visit. I had yet to visit the McFalls at their home. I planned ahead with Amy to surprise him and really give him a shock. I arrived in Morgantown about 10 minutes before Mark got home from work and donned some running clothes. He actually arrived before I was ready, but was able to salvage the surprise. As is the tradition at the McFall household the Friday before a WVU home game, Mark was having a few adult bevarages on his front porch. I came running down the sidewalk and "tripped" on his sidewalk and went down screaming and holding my ankle in his front yard (with my back to him (and with sunglasses on)). Mark yells out: "Hey buddy, you OK?" as he came over to see if I needed help (afterwards admitting the only thing he was concerned about was if I was going to sue him). When I looked up at him, his normally single brow pucker turn into four as his brain tried to grasp what he was seeing (My God! this guy looks just like my best friend Jim Borden!). Needless to say, it was a lot of fun and we all had a good laugh.
Also, if you are ever in Phoenix, go to Scott Millspaugh's restaurant, Bobby Dee's. I had a chance to see him last November when I visited a project we have going in Mesa. Nice place and great food. A slice of T-Burg in the American Southwest. Thanks for the platter of wings for me and my crew, Scott!
Talk of the reunion and nearing the time when I hope to see most of you again makes my heart swell. It does not seem like I have now spent more of my life away from all of you than our short time together at Trumansburg Central School. That must be why someone invented reunions. I hope you all try to make it.
Recent Updates: * High School sweetheart Betsy and I will celebrate our 13th anniversary this July. She is enjoying teaching 1st grade in the local school district. * Jared is now 10 and will enter the 5th grade this fall. He likes basketball, swimming, tennis, drawing, Gameboy SP, skiing, riding his bike and is working toward his Arrow of Light in the Scouting Program. * Erica is 7 and will enter the 2nd grade. She is quite a skiier, and also plays baskeball and swims, loves to draw and play with her friends. * Our family just returned from a great swing through California where we spent a week in Malibu enjoying the beach, spending a day at Disneyland, and a day on Santa Cruz Island (part of Channel Islands National Park). Then on to three days in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park (highly recommended), and finally our last three days we spent enjoying the unparalleled beauty of Yosemite National Park. * Ran my first marathon in April. Still do triathlons for fun and fitness. * Traveled to San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, LA, D.C. for work in the past year. We're currently pursuing work in NY, PA, VA, VT, NC, TX, KS, AZ, and CO. If I travel near any of you, I'll try and contact you (or I may just surprise you!).
Way to go Doug and Joelle!
See you soon
Jim
