My life has been pretty interesting since high school, this last year in particular has been a doozy. I have two children, Bryonna and Hillary. Bry is a freshman at Ithaca College studying biochemistry with her sights on veterinary medicine, her happiest days spent up to her neck in manure or working with Dr. Orzeck at his clinic in T-burg. Hillary is 13 and an 8th grader at T-burg. She's active on the soccer and softball teams but her passion is Irish dance.
Yes, I married one of those Albrecht boys... David, the eldest. He was class of 82. We were married 18 years (still are technically, but in the process of divorcing). I'm afraid my lifestyle drove him over the edge...
I returned to my hometown, Mecklenburg, three and a half years ago. I have a 200 year old farmhouse and a nice chunk of acreage here that I share with the girls, 4 cats, 2 dogs, and a horse. I'm currently back in school full-time pursuing degrees in Environmental Studies and Outdoor Recreation at Ithaca College. (I studied at Cornell for a bit, majoring in anthropology, but did not finish.) I am a second semester junior, so still have a little way yet to go. When finished, I plan to teach Environmental/Outdoor Education. I am currently training for a mountaineering expedition next summer (summit Denali!) and am proud to say at 38 I'm in the best shape of my life. Last summer when you called I was in New Jersey at Sterling Forest State Park working on a resource interpretation project for the state, another of my professional interests. As a matter of fact, the park is managed by T-burg alum Jim Gell '72. I also hold certification in wilderness rescue.
I suppose you can guess from what I've already said that my interests lie primarily in outdoor activities. I love kayaking, canoeing, rock/ice climbing (despite a fear of heights that makes me throw up before each climb), backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and, yes, even gardening. I am new to skiing, currently working on spending more time upright than on my ass.
In May I will be heading out on a 4-week backcountry canoe trip, followed by the mountaineering expedition in Washington until mid-July. With luck, I will be back in town in time for the reunion.
So, that's my life these days! More sweat than glamour, I'm afraid
